KRIS THORNTON

Professional supervision offers a confidential and safe space where supervisors facilitate supervisees reflecting on their work. This involves exploring their professional experiences, actions and motivations and considering alternative approaches to improve their practice. Professional supervision considers the unique impact of these areas on your work - your soul, role and context. 

Pastoral supervision is for Pastors, Chaplains, Youth Leaders, Team Leaders and volunteers who work and offer their time to others through helping professions. Pastoral supervision offers a confidential and safe space to reflect on the work of ministers, lay leaders, chaplains and volunteers, providing support and facilitating ongoing personal and professional growth and development. 

 The higher your level of leadership, the more you need to give careful consideration to your personal and professional growth. As a leader, your growth and development has an overflow effect. Many leaders lack an ally who will come alongside them to facilitate their growth and development goals. 

Hello from Kris

I'm a Professional and Pastoral Supervisor, Pastor and Executive Coach based in Sydney, Australia. I have decades of experience in pastoral ministry, business consulting, coaching and leadership. 

I am passionate about wise living and strengthening leaders as they influence people. I build strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect with my clients. I have a unique skillset and experience in both business and pastoral ministry. 

Professional Background

My first career was in corporate accounting and financial management, which progressed into management consulting. Consulting opened my world to project management, coaching, training and development delivery and professional supervision. I have led the leaders. I use my experience and skills to help leaders stay resourced, empowered and creative in their professional and personal lives through professional supervision, coaching and consulting.  

Pastoral and Ministry Background

I have been a strengthening the church and its leaders my whole adult life. I am an ordained minister with the Australian Christian Churches and have been in church ministry for decades (oh how the years have flown by).

I grew up in a senior pastor's home and understand church leadership from the inside. As a pastor and leader, I have worked bi-vocationally for decades and understand the unique pressures of working inside and outside the church. I am involved and invested in my local church.

I have  ministered widely in Australia and cross-culturally overseas. I bring a deep understanding and care of pastors, leaders and the church to professional pastoral supervision. I understand the joys, complexities and challenges of this type of calling and the sacrifices required to live it out.  

As an Adjunct Lecturer I have been strengthening the learning journey of students at Alphacrucis University College for the past 20 years across 3 schools:

Theology, Social Sciences and Business.

I am currently on the Professional Supervision lecturing team at Alphacrucis working in the training and development of Professional Supervisors.  

Consulting

As a consultant, I enjoy bespoke projects (projects are fun!) that are people-oriented and require a well-designed organisational culture and process to facilitate project outcomes.  

Experiencing the synergy of people, culture, and well-designed processes is inspiring to me.

As an author, I'm passionate about wise living to create a successful life. This translates to facilitating the growth of people and organisations in my professional life. I am the person who comes alongside you, the leader or aspiring leader, to strengthen and support your growth and to help you to thrive in every season.
